Lone Dog Winter Count

1821-‘22 Lone Dog (Nakota) pictograph showing a bright meteor falling to earth, educated observers on the upper Missouri noted scientific societies of the occurrence. 1822-1823 shows trading post built by a white man named Big Leggings near the Little Missouri or Bad River. 1823-‘24 Interpreter Clement said U.S. Soldiers first appeared in the region, a unnamed interpreter stated that U.S. forces accompanied by Dakota upon Arikara village.
